COALITION FOR RESPONSIBLE TOBACCO RETAILING

FAQ

Q. I've forgotten my login details. What can I do?
A. There is a password recovery system that may be of help. Otherwise, you'll have to create a new login, and the training program will have lost track of your progress. Don't forget to write down your login when you first set it up!

Q. I've gotten to the login page for the first time. It already contains information. What do I do next?
A. On some systems, the browser may retain information from a previous user. Just enter your own details in the spaces and go on. A small help button and instructions are available on the login screen.

Q. What am I supposed to do on the profile page?
A. You need to type in a few personal details. Your name will appear as you enter it on the certificate we'll generate when you pass the mastery test. The state you enter will be used to tailor training and testing to your state's laws. Finally, the profile page is LONG - there's a continue button at the very bottom.

A. You're probably actually logged in! Click the button for the solution.
Rare Login Quirk

Q. What web browser should I use?
A. Most recent browsers work well. The main requirements were outlined on the introductory page and a browser compatibility test is available. (See links on the left.)

Q. How fast should my internet connection be to use the high-end training?
A. A 768Kbs connection is probably the minimum. These days, almost all broadband accounts operate at this speed or faster. If you have concerns about your connection, it's best to use the low-end version. Even though the underlying material in both editions is the same, if you start the high-end course, you'll have to begin training again if you switch to low-end.

Q. If I start a video before the narration finishes, why doesn't the narration stop? (High-end only.)
A. The narration explains the video. Let it finish completely before starting a video.

Q. Isn't the mastery test too hard?
A. The mastery test is intended to be challenging. It provides you with a way to determine whether you have a thorough understanding of crucial laws and techniques involved in tobacco retailing. The pass mark is 13 correct answers out of the 15 questions presented in the test (about 87%). If you need to take the test more than once, a fresh test with different questions in a different order will be generated for you to work with. As in a standard printed quiz, all the questions appear together in one scrolling page. This will let you get a sense not only of the broad context of the material you've studied, but will make clearer how all the pieces are related to one another.

Q. How do I log out?
A. There are small logout links at the top right and bottom of every page. You can log out at any time since your training is recorded as you go along.

Q. What does FAQ mean?
A. It's the acronym for Frequently Asked Questions. Like many things on the web, this ugly-sounding bunch of letters has taken on a life of its own.
